Meet our Head Teacher

Mary Brennan

A primary teacher and deputy head teacher for more than 17 years, Mary Brennan founded Star Student with Michelle Mercer because of her strong belief in the importance of parental involvement in education.

Mary writes:

"Welcome to Star Student.

During my teaching years, I witnessed the benefits of child-parent interaction. The child who received support at home was the child who came to school in a positive frame of mind. They were ready and eager to learn, behaved well, achieved great results and were well-rounded, happy individuals.

Throughout my career I have seen how, despite best efforts, the demands of teaching couldn't truly allow consistent, personal home support to children and parents. By harnessing the latest technical breakthroughs, and a fresh approach to education, we've changed all that.

The service we are offering is unique. The tutoring programme we provide enables your child to achieve their full potential and gain a life-long love of learning - through real-life experiences".

Mary has more than 17 years of teaching experience at primary schools across Britain.

Recognised for her excellent teaching skills, she has specialised in year 6 education for the majority of her career.

Before becoming our Head Teacher and managing director, Mary was the Deputy Head Teacher at Avonmore Primary School in Hammersmith & Fulham.

• Mathematics Co-ordinator (across the school)

• Lead Teacher for Hammersmith & Fulham in Mathematics, English and Science
• Behaviour Manager (across the school)
• Key Stage Two Manager
• Homework Co-ordinator (all years)

Other interests
• Walking and playing with her dog, Barnaby
• Keeping fit
• Playing golf
• Watching football matches (Mary supports Sheffield Wednesday but don’t hold it against her!)
