The Star Student panel of experts keeps us in touch with the latest initiatives and developments that might affect you and your child. Bringing a wealth of expertise from across the National Curriculum, they offer in-depth advice to our head teacher and dedicated Star Student teaching staff.
The panel consists of:-
Katie Brown

Currently Assistant Head Teacher at Wormholt Park Primary (Hammersmith & Fulham)
With more than 10 years’ teaching experience under her belt, Katie was an obvious choice to join our panel. As a year 3/4 coordinator, she has a wealth of ground level Key Stage Two know-how to draw on when helping us bring the best out of your child.
She is not only English & Drama co-ordinator, but also heads-up both Gifted & Talented and Creative Partnership programmes. Her knowledge in these fields makes her especially astute at finding and nurturing natural childhood talent.
Expertise
• Lead English Teacher in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham
• Key Stage Two teacher
• Vital member of the Centre for Literacy and Primary Education (CLPE) project, which led to publishing the research bible 'Boys on the Margin'.
• Research used in two workshops at CLPE for teachers, and a seminar at the NEC on drama strategies to promote writing.
Other interests
• Using drama strategies to stimulate and support writing
• Using creative approaches to enhance children's thinking and creative skills
• Children's literature and reading group discussion

Andrea Oldfield-New
Currently Teaching at Grange Primary School (London Borough of Ealing)
The shear amount of teaching and management experience Andrea has gained across London’s school system is testament to her unique abilities. Now in her third decade of teaching, there are few areas in which she has not gained an in-depth knowledge.
Specialising in Key Stage Two, Andrea has co-ordinated a vast array of subjects over the primary age range. These subjects include Science & Technology, Mathematics, Music and English As An Additional Language. She has also managed Inclusion, School Assessment, Special Needs and Gifted & Talented programmes.

Anika Udell

Currently Deputy Head Teacher at Wormholt Park Primary School
(Hammersmith & Fulham)
As Deputy Head Teacher, Anika is more than used to implementing and supervising successful teaching methods. She also uses her 19 years of experience to co-ordinate Key Stage One and Early Years programmes.
We knew Anika would slot perfectly into our expert panel because of the time she has spent as a Deputy Head Teacher and her experience in monitoring teaching and learning standards across Wormholt Park Primary. This gives her the skills and know-how necessary to help us get the most from your child.
Expertise
• Monitors the curriculum across Key Stage One and the Early Years, ensuring it’s both creative and balanced
• Involved in Key Stage One and Early Years assessment
• Engaged in raising achievement across Key Stage One and the Early Years
Other interests
• Looking after a busy house with 3 children (3, 13, and 16)
• Taking her children out on trips: long walks in the park, museums and art galleries

Suzanne Mathews

Currently teaching at Avonmore Primary School (Hammersmith & Fulham)
Suzanne previously worked as a successful Civil Engineer, then embarked on a new career five years ago to satisfy her passion for education and learning. Since then, she has quickly established herself as one of the foremost teaching talents in the UK.
Having taught years 3 and 5, Suzanne has become indispensible at Avonmore Primary, co-ordinating both their Science and Modern Foreign Language subject groups.

• Assessment Manager across Avonmore Primary School
• Engaged in lifting standards across the school’s Key Stage programme

• Music – playing the flute and piano
